Assist with the Liturgy

Liturgy is the "work of the people of God."

Our church and chapel are the places where our Nativity family gathers to worship together.  There are many ways you can help, depending on the gifts God has given you and how God may call on you.  Sometimes to find out what that is, we need to just try and see.  The participation of everyone involved in these ministries is important and vital to the parish community.  There are many tasks that Nativity needs help with such as cleaning our worship spaces, reading at Mass, playing music or singing, running audio/visual, taking pictures, or bringing Communion to those who cannot attend.

If you are being called to help in some of the ways listed below, please contact our office (813) 681-4608 so we can help place you in the space where God is calling you.

Greeters - click here for more info
Welcome and greet your fellow parishioners for 20-30 minutes prior to each Mass on the weekends.  All you need is a willingness to be present, extend a hand and share your friendly smile!

Altar Servers
Both boys and girls of our parish who are at least in 5th grade may be trained and then serve at Mass.

Come Clean Group
Help clean God's house on Thursday mornings.  This group of volunteers cleans the Church from 7am-9:30am and the Chapel from 8:45am-10:30am.  Call the office to get involved. (813) 681-4608.

The Lector helps to nourish our community with God's words.  Through proclamation by our Lectors, God speaks to us with words of love.  Those words comfort us when we are in need, and they challenge us to live as God calls us.  Consider taking part in reading and proclaiming the Word of God at Mass.

Music Ministry
"God bestowed upon his people the gift of song.  God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises." (USCCB: Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship)  If you feel called to share your voice or are a musician, we can find a place for you in our Chorale, Family Mass Ensemble, Coro Hispano, LIFETeen Mass Ensemble, or Cantoring.
We also welcome new members for our Audio Visual Ministry to help setup and run video screens and sound boards.

Liturgy Committee & Art/Environment
To assist the priests in the liturgical celebrations, this committee helps give feedback, discusses upcoming liturgy plans, and helps enhance our liturgical celebrations.  The Art and Environment team assists our sacristans to decorate our worship spaces with the changes in liturgical seasons.

Eucharistic Ministers
Called to be good news for others, one powerful way to accomplish this is helping with the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass.  Our volunteers also extend this action of bringing Christ's life to others as they also minister to the homebound, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Called to be welcoming to others, our ushers help our families with seating and navigating their way around the church and chapel.  They also help distribute our weekly bulletin, assist at offertory time, and aid in distributing any other important materials at special liturgies.

Hearing Impaired Ministry
American Sign Language is available at our 4pm Saturday Mass because of the service and dedication of this group of volunteers.  Those in need of this service are encouraged to sit near the front by the piano.  Please check our bulletin for special holiday, and holy day announcement for ASL services.
