LIFE FORCE - MIDDLE SCHOOL
What is Life Force?
Life Force is a dynamic & comprehensive youth ministry that concentrates on leading teens closer to Christ through strong Eucharistic spirituality & dedication to our Blessed Mother. Not to mention it's a lot of fun!!!
What does Life Force look like at Nativity?
Every Sunday Night we gather for Mass at 6pm. This Mass has contemporary music and lively homilies that engage our youth. On Tuesday evenings, 6pm-8pm our Life Force Middle School Students meet for fellowship, prayer and dynamic Life Nights.
How is catechesis taught? What textbook do you use?
There are no classrooms & no “textbooks” in the Life Teen model. That is the model that Life Force has adopted. Instead, the teens learn about & interact with their faith through Life Nights, which take place on Tuesday evenings. They hear the message of the week & pray together in a large group setting & then break into small groups to further reflect on what they have heard. All of our material comes from two main sources, the Bible & the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Life Force uses a three year curriculum called EDGE that is based on the guidelines set forth by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Who plans the Life Nights? Who runs them?
Our Life Force Life Nights are run by our volunteer parents, adults and High School teens who are involved in our Jr. Core Team. All of our adults are Safe Environment trained, Background Checked, and trained on how to use the EDGE resource to help in Catechesis.
Who can attend Life Nights?
Life Force Life Nights are open to all grades 6th-8th, from any area middle school. No, you do not have to be registered to attend. You don’t even have to be a member of our parish or Catholic. We just ask you fill out our emergency contact form incase there is an incident. Come bring a friend!
How can parents and other volunteers get involved?
The success of the Nativity Life Force program is directly related to the number of hands that pitch in to help. There are many ways you can get involved even if you don't run our Life Nights. Each have a valuable part. An invaluable part of our ministry is our parents and adult volunteers who help run the Life Nights on Tuesday evening. We are always also in need of High School teens to help mentor our Middle School students in our Jr. Core Team. For more information on this ministry, please contact Nancy Bergman, Assistant Youth Minister. We are always looking for willing hearts to join us!
